YES! The coffee prices in the US are inflating due to material costs rising. The coffee prices and sugar costs are higher than ever before. Along with the Iphone 5, 2011 brings higher gas prices which means elevated import costs and coffee prices. Since nearly 100% of the coffee US citizens consume is foreign to our country, there seems to be no way around the rising coffee prices.
Coffee taste is not necessarily dependent on coffee prices. Some of the worst tasting coffee blends are imported for hundreds of dollars from some foreign country you've never heard of. The newest trend for cheaper coffee prices seems to be instant mixes. These coffees come in individual packs and usually mix directly into a cup of hot water. Most people describe the taste of instant coffees negatively, however, very recently a company came out with the first "Gourmet Instant Coffee". I've had the pleasure of trying it, and boy does it live up to it's name. If you want to check it out, the company sells online, and the name is; Organo Gold. The prices are fairly cheap too; about 1 dollar a cup.
The rise in coffee prices has shifted many retailers' views when it comes to selling their products. Aside from coffee companies trying to make coffee more affordable by packing it in instants, they are buying more at a time. When the coffee companies buy more supply, the coffee sits on shelves for longer, and degrades more before we receive it. There's lots of benefits if you buy coffee online, your quality is usually guaranteed as well as having way more options. As stated earlier, my favorite online provider is Organo Gold. If you want great tasting coffee for under a buck a cup, follow the link!
